What exactly is "it" you ask? Well simply put whatever your dream is! Attending class last week, I learned an additional meaning of the word passion, to suffer. Of course when we think of the word many other definitions come to mind i.e. something you love doing beyond anything else; or an emotional reaction to a physical stimulant. Though valid meanings, none quite get to the heart of the matter quite like "to suffer". I'm working on a sermon series that will explore this word much further; but for this purpose I simply wanted to stir creative minds to ask a question of one's self. The question, "What am I willing to suffer for that it burdens me if I can't do it?" We are faced with many challenges in our current society. Yet, together if and when we are willing, we CAN make "it" work! Our number one common denominator is our Creator. Whether you acknowledge GOD or not, you were indeed created by HIM. Therefore, HIS attributes of love and compassion are deeply rooted within all of us. We simply have to activate them as if they were an ATM card loaded with riches. With so many budget cuts across the board for everyone, we really will have to work together to prevent child abuse and neglect, a declining literacy rate, an aging generation that is sandwiched between X'ers, Y'ers and Millennials (oh my), recession and war. Within each of us lies a dream, that if we would take a risk to bring into fruition, all could benefit. For many of us, we will leave this earth lamenting over would a, should a, could a! Don't be one of them wondering what if or if only. Find your "it" and get started on leaving a legacy of love and compassion for your fellow human beings. Just a word of caution, don't tell your 36" x 36" dream to someone who can only visualize a 3" x 5" possibility! There is work much to do while we are waiting for your dream and together we can make "it" work. |
