April is designated as Child Abuse Prevention Month. While there are many activities planned, my favorite is the Blue Sunday Prayer Service. Probably because I believe in the effectual fervent prayer that changes people and circumstances. Whatever your beliefs, there is no denying that we are indeed three-part beings: Mind, Body and Spirit. It is our spirit-man that longs to communicate with his or her Creator. It is that something we that we look for in others to bring purpose, validate, give joy and comfort us in times of pain and sorrow.
When we seek first the kingdom of Heaven and His righteousness, it is only then we recognize that unconditional love, joy and peace truly only comes from GOD. In this post-modern time, we have generations that know not GOD, His love or His compassion. This is why there are so many children suffering from neglect as well as abuse at the hands of their parents. It is time for the Body of Christ to lay aside denominational differences, dogma and personal kingdom building, instead of GOD's Kingdom building, and come together in effectual fervent prayer for our children. Entertainment and activities cannot heal broken bones, hearts or spirits. However, our Creator can and He awaits His people to petition Him on our children's behalf.
I am asking you to commit to do two things on April 29, 2012: 1) Ask your congregation and facebook friends to pray at NOON for children, parents, first-responders, case workers, teachers, caregivers and even politicians; 2) You commit to pray at Noon for the same folk. That's it! Just remember Prayer really does bring about change!
